The Journey of Sea Glass story was written by Village Sea Glass Owner & Artist, Polly Schulze. In 2007, Polly began running on the beach at New Brighton as a way to process the fact that both her Mom & Dad were battling cancer. It was on those runs that she discovered sea glass. Unfortunately in 2008 she lost her Mom & Dad with her Dad passing away only ten days after her Mom's funeral. Shortly after that she began photographing the sea glass she had collected on her runs on the beach. As she took in the beauty of the sea glass through her lens, it dawned on her that her journey of brokenness was very similar to that of the sea glass. And she sat with that idea and out poured this sentiment:
"Like the sea glass, sometimes we become broken and lost along our life's journey. We tumble through tumultuous waters that seemingly may never settle. Then one day we find ourselves on firm ground where our broken edges have been softened, and the scars of time now glisten when the sun strikes them just right. May the journey of the sea glass be a beacon of hope for you to believe that there is indeed beauty beyond brokenness." The Journey of Sea Glass story is written over one of Polly's sea glass photos that was taken on New Brighton Beach where she used to run. It is then printed on a 6x8 Ceramic Tile in a matte finish. Four rubber bumpers are placed on the back to protect any surface that the tile may sit on. The tile makes a beautiful gift of hope for anyone who is on or has been through a journey of brokenness.
