About Us

Hello there!

My name is Polly Schulze-Elser and I am the owner of Village Sea Glass and one of it's artists. My journey with sea glass began in 2007 when both of my parents were in a battle with cancer. It was then that I began running our local beach to clear my mind of the tough emotions I was feeling. I would run past the massive rock piles that washed up in the winter time and there were many. One day I noticed a splash of color in the rock piles. At the time I knew nothing of sea glass so I continued my run. In time I became curious and stopped my runs to pick up and collect the colorful shards of what I found out was sea glass. That year of running the beach amassed me a large collection of sea glass. Unfortunately in late 2008 I lost both my Mom and Dad to cancer. Within four weeks I found myself an adult orphan. The pain of their loss was almost unbearable. But within a year I began photographing my sea glass and noticing the beauty that it provided in each photo. Friends and family began wanting my photos and soon after I was selling them locally. Flash forward to January of 2011 and you'd find me opening my little shop in The Capitola Village (Capitola, CA) called Village Sea Glass. I have a collection of artists from Northern Washington to Southern California who create for the store who have the same love of sea glass as I do. The Village Sea Glass retail customers come from far and wide and it is my hope that I'll be able to continue connecting with everyone here online. Thank you for allowing me to share my love of sea glass with you and I hope you'll find something here that speaks to you. ~ Polly Schulze-Elser
